It appears the U.S.
government encourages the addition of recycled
products from the incineration of medical and municipal wastes, even those
found to be radioactive and from industries such as smelting, cement making
and wood product manufacturing. This practice is supposed to reduce the
pressures on dumps and conserve space in hazardous waste landfills as well
as save money! Turning these products, which are deadly to your health, into fertilizers to be used on growing your food (and other plant life) was uncovered in an investigation by the Seattle Times. Concerned about unhealthy and poor crops, investigators discovered that wastes are added to fertilizers without being listed on the label. If you are not sure about the fertilizers you use and are used by the sources that supply your food at the local grocery store or are concerned about this heretofore unpublicized practice, we urge you to contact your local representatives or the Department of Ecology and Agriculture for details and information. Make sure you check the labels and the source of the ingredients on the fertilizers you buy or use and perhaps even ask your market/grocery store do they know about this problem and do they know the fertilizers that are used to grow the products they purchase for your consumption?
