The following terms and designations apply to the area of Bodywork. These give the viewer an idea of what some of the letters and designations are included behind a person's name and what educational background they have had to achieve the designation. Not all terms are included here.

Certified Music Therapist, graduate of the American Association for Music Therapy at AAMT approved schools. |

Certified Rolfer or Certified Reflexologist |
CTP |
Certified Trager Practioner, completion of Trager Institute's professional certification program. |
FAIM |
Foundation for the Advancement of Innovative Medicine, source for finding physicians who are practioners of Complimentary Medicine. |

Licensed Acupuncturist, State license or diploma |

Massage Therapist, generic term which does not necessarily imply license or certification. |
NCMT |
Nationally Certified Massage Therapist, passed the National Certification exam, in therapeutic massage and bodywork. Nationally accepted and recognized by the AMTA/AOBTA. |

Physical Therapist, state licensed accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. |

Registered Acupuncturist |

Reiki Master, traditionally signifies at least three years as a Reiki practioner, and one year as an apprentice to a Reiki Master. No certification. |
RMT |
Registered Massage Therapist, no longer awarded but still used by those who previously qualified for the title. |

Registered Music Therapist, requirements include a four year degree in music therapy from an NAMT approved school and at least six month full-time supervised clinical internship (1040 hours). |
