1) Computer Center Operations: Responsible for operation of large Univac Mainframe computers and all associated
peripheral equipment, logging-on and starting projects/jobs, maintaining projects/jobs to completion according
to customer requirements. Three-shift operation, 24 hours per day. Promoted to shift manager and eventually
to scheduling entire Data Center. Many jobs would run continuously for days or weeks without stopping. Job
included detail error location (when processing or system errors occurred), remedial clearing/correction of
any errors and restart of job. Required to know and understand intimate details of the electronic circuitry of the entire system. Trained
company and client staffs how to operate mainframe computer systems.
2) Programming, Systems Analysis and Design, Applications Development, Design and Implementation:
Educational Services Department, responsible for teaching machine (assembly) level programming, systems analysis
and design, applications development, applications design and implementation taking manual applications in
business, commerce and scientific organizations into computerization, reducing manual efforts, speeding and
smoothing application function, utilizing advanced methods of analysis,
design, providing proper interfaces between machines and people. Taught IT to company and customer staffs at
technical, managerial and executive levels including U.S. Government agencies and Military. Extensive
programming experience using html and java applets for web site development. Industries and applications included: oil, gas exploration,
manufacturing, CAD/CAM, transportation, health care, semi-conductor manufacturing, communications, financial applications,
aerospace, education and distribution.
3) Consulting, lecturing, teaching Information Technology: Taught
successful TV program regarding computers and information systems, applications development, and systems design.
Lectured to Universities (Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Oklahoma), foreign governments (France, Belgium,
Spain, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Germany, and England).
4) As National Marketing Manager Developed
and implemented strategic marketing and tactical
sales planning, consulting, writing:
Developed extensive, practical applications of computers in the healthcare
industry utilizing new IT concepts and approaches. Developed forerunner patient care applications of computers with
monitors in the hospital environment (Sweden). Design and application of large mainframe data base applications
for a six state region in the U.S. linking insurance, providers, hospitals and clinics together via
on-line communications (Ohio). Development of strategic marketing and tactical sales planning for major computer company
(Sperry Univac) increasing world-wide sales from $1.4 million to $70 million within four
year period.
