Homeopathy is a well established
healing system, concerned with treating the entire person rather then treating just the
dis-ease or symptoms. Since each of us are different, people with the same
disease or problem may often be treated with different medicines. Homeopathy
looks for the one substance that will cure the individual case by stimulating
the body's own natural systems. The body wants always to return to its
most optimum health condition. Instead of trying to dry up a runny nose
with antihistamines, homeopathy uses a remedy that stimulates the body
to move in the direction it is already going, and in the process clear
up the runny nose.
Homeopathy is also used very effectively in dental treatment, the treatment
of animals, and in conjunction with other therapies, such as acupuncture
and chiropractic. Homeopathy has a significant role in both curative and
preventative medicine.
Homeopathy is a healing process in which remedies, compatible with
the persons' system being treated, stimulate and encourage the body's natural
healing forces for recovery. In Homeopathy, symptoms produced by a disease
or sickness are seen as the body's natural reaction, and seeks to stimulate
rather than suppress them. In another example, Ipecacuanha (from the root
of the plant) if taken by a healthy person will cause vomiting, but if
taken in small homeopathic doses will cure vomiting. Homeopathic medicines
are completely safe with no unwanted side effects and they are nonaddictive,
safe for babies, children and elderly people.
There are many well recognized pharmaceutical companies in the U.S. as
well as internationally that produce medicines to be used in the practice
of Homeopathy. If you would like more information and a list of professionals

The term Homeopathy is derived from the Greek words,
homeos and pathos, which mean similar suffering. Hippocrates' Law of Similars
best summarizes the basic concept: "When a natural substance is given to a healthy
individual, symptoms will arise; when that same substance is ingested by someone
who is ill with similar symptoms, it acts as a curative." Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, M.D.,
is considered the "father" of Homeopathy, publishing his first edition of his
Organon in 1810, a compilation of his ideas and philosophies to help guide others. The
essence of his Organon writings can be described as follows: "The like remedy, the
single drug, the smallest doses, the infrequent doses, noninterference with the organism's
vital reactions, occasional initial and minor aggravation and potentization of the remedy.
To cure mildly, rapidly and permanently, choose in every case a disease, a remedy which
can itself produce a similar affection."
Hahnemann compiled and documented his work over several decades, and the question most
frequently asked was how the remedies actually work. In the simplest terms, remedies
work because they resonate with the energetic pattern of the individual and stimulate
a response from the vital force. In Homeopathy the entire individual, body, mind and
spirit are looked at.
