BODYWORK
(Compliments of Larry and Elvire van Leeuwen-Smith)
The Feldenkrais
technique was developed in response to correct a knee
injury without surgery. Hands-on, slow, gentle, exercise-like
sessions include a gentle massage and are designed to teach a person how to expand range of motion. This
is useful for victims of stroke or accidents
who have lost movement of body systems.
Hellerwork technique
practioners believe that manipulation alone is inadequate
for long-lasting improvement. To maintain mobility and alignment,
movement exercises are employed designed to eliminate bad habits and to learn to stand, walk, sit, and move
most efficiently.
Discussion and counseling is also included with the treatments.
Integrative Massage
consists of gentle techniques to move energy from the head
down and out through the hands and feet. Deep breathing aimed
at the complete breath that happens when emotional issues have been released are also an important part of
this technique.
Manual Lymph Drainage
is a specialized form of face and neck massage designed to
stimulate the lymphatic flow and clear the system of toxins.
This technique is often used in conjunction with aromatherapy and involves gentle stroking of the lymph
glands to shed built-up cellular debris.
Neuro-Muscular Therapy
is a form of deep tissue massage applied to individual
muscles to increase blood flow, reduce pain and release pressure
on nerves caused by injuries to muscles and other soft tissues.
Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET)
seeks to restore imbalances in the body system through
removal of biochemical and bioelectrical charges stored
in the brain and manifesting as illnesses in the body.
Reflexology
using the hands and feet, enables pain and tension to be
relieved in various parts of the body based
upon the theory that stress and tension cause about 75% of all health problems.
