Bodywork
is a term covering many disciplines including Reiki,
Massage, Cranscacrial Balancing, Rolfing, Yoga, Acupressure, Alchemical bodywork, the Alexander technique, Bioenergetics
and core energetics, Insight therapy, color therapy Somatics, sound Ortho-Bionomy, Polarity therapy, Kinesiology, Trigger
Point Myotherapy, and others, many within each of these. All of these have much to do with placing your body into the
"perfect condition" so everything else will work properly.
This information is not to make anyone an expert, but merely to give
an idea of various systems we each have that are involved and "well connected" everything
having to do with the body. Thus, any healing technique must treat the whole person - body, mind
and spirit.
Some of the bodywork techniques included herein are ancient and some are very new; less than a
decade old. All attempt to treat not just the symptom but the entire system's getting at the
root cause of the problem's whereas in standard western medicine treating the symptom with drugs
is often the only approach and of course does not work in the long run. Besides, who wants to
put "poisons" such as killed viruses and chemicals into their body? Many people, not familiar
with these approaches in alternative medicine perhaps may think these are "bunk", but most, if
truly open to new techniques and approaches advocated by these, find their minds changed. Over 42% of people in 1997
in need of medical help opted for an alternative/holistic/complimentary approach.
Today, there are so many new techniques and approaches that we may have left one or two out. This is not
designed to be a complete list by any means.
