TOTAL FITNESS
IN 30 MINUTES a WEEK!

PLEASE READ NOTICE

Well, you say, the people at Karinya have really gone off their rocker this time. No one can get in shape by doing only 30 minutes of exercise a week. Suppose a person had never really exercised? Why it could take that person a long time to get back in shape (depending on how out of shape they were to begin with).

Some of the "experts" in fitness would have us believe that one has to work out at least 1 hour or more each day to get fit and then to remain fit still work at it. Like jogging at least a mile every day. As a consequence you can see all those gyms and health spas that exist for those who really don't have time, but can perhaps spare a few minutes, or one has to embark upon a plan, sometimes the sheer scope of it (depending on ones condition) which may turn one away.

But there is a better way, a much better way in fact - something the astronaughts are taught. Read on if you want to find out about it.

As most of us know the astronauts need to be in tip top mental, emotional and of course physical condition to do some of the things they do in space. Space is demanding (the way it is looked at today) what with all the absence of gravity, tight spaces in the space capsules so that exercises as we know them on earth are just about out, etc. Many years ago NASA (National Aeronautical Space Administration (US)) started thinking about this - how could the astronauts get the proper amount of exercise to stay fit in space, or how to not deteriorate in space. An in-depth study was commissioned bu NASA for Lawrence E. Morehouse, PhD, (Professor of exercise physiology and Director of the Human Performance Laboratory at UCLA) and Leonard Gross to determine what this was and what could be done about the fitness aspect. Professor Morehouse was also responsible for a study and development of the methodology to enable astronauts to work successfully on the surface of the Moon.

Not to put you through a dissertation regarding all the 3 years of intense reseach that was done, but suffice to say that a book was written about this subject by Professor Morehouse and Leonard Gross, and first published in the UK in 1975. In a nutshell the astronauts were taught that 10 minutes of specific exercises which raise the heart rate to the range of between 140 - 150 (no more no less) three times a week would keep them in tip top shape. The book is an authoritative fitness program, a revolutionary way to good health and longer life without strict diets or punishing exercise schedules. The book is a best seller.
